Penguinistas Rise Again
Yes, well… —ahem!— after my good intentions last year of beginning to revive this site, my Planet install kakked out on me and I never bothered to fix it, which means we’ve effectively been dormant for almost five years. Prior to that, we had a good run of at first weekly email newsletters in 1999 graduating to daily online content in 2000 and through most of 2003. I’m not promising daily content, but we’re back with a new back end (the old archives are still intact) and the hopes of reviving some semi-regular content. Hopefully this will take pretty much the same form as before… links to news stories with cynical, snide, opinionated, and occasionally insightful summary comments. Not just the news, but opinion as well. Feature articles may also appear with similar regularity as before, if all goes well. This time out though, we’ve got the commenting set up with the new platform — a feature always intended for the old one, but which just never hit the development stage.
What’s changed? Why the new interest? What happened, anyway? Well things had gotten so busy with our Internet and software consulting firm that I simply didn’t have the time to keep this site up as well. For the past year and a half though, I’ve been out of the day-to-day operations there and have begun freelance work consulting on Internet projects and doing freelance writing. I’ve maintained my business blog somewhat as well, and have been writing a pseudonymous niche blog daily for the past four years. Despite some of these ongoing committments, it seems right to revive this project at the present time, so here we go…

See? I told you we had commenting enabled.
Welcome back! I liked this site in the old days. I’m afraid the CSS is not to my taste. The Amazon ad is on top of the text and unmovable. The main column is partially unreadable unless I set my browser for full (1024-pixel) width. But anyway, thanks for getting this going again!
Thanks, Pyesetz. It’s good to have it up and running again, even if I’m not back to the previous pace of items posted.
I admit the CSS is not fully tested across browsers and platforms… let me know what browser you’re running and I’ll be sure to troubleshoot the CSS a bit further than I have.
Thanks having a LDP mirror, but we didn’t have the good URL. Thanks to your home page, I was able to fix this and you are again on the LDP mirror page:
